SHAH Unisex Sweatshirt
Due to the strong influences of western art and the court's desire to experience the modern world, a new type of portrait emerged in Iranian painting during the Qajar period. Portrait of Fath'Ali Shah Qajar by Mihr 'Ali (18th century), showing the king seated against a jeweled bolster on a pearl-edged rug, is one of the most iconic examples of the portraiture painting in that era.
In the "Shah" design, we have placed this painting, instead of the picture of the King on cards. Playing cards mostly portray cultural icons more closely related to existing pop culture, with examples ranging from comic superhero characters to modern TV hits, and even pop culture icons. In this context, the “Shah” design represents the confrontation of tradition and modernity.
